April is a special time at Big Brothers Big Sisters as we proudly celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month—a chance to recognize and thank the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and compassion to support young people in our community. This year, we’re also excited to shine an extra spotlight during Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 19–25).
At the heart of everything we do are our volunteers. They are mentors, leaders, role models, and champions for youth—each playing a unique and meaningful role in helping young people reach their full potential.
Our mentors are often the first faces that come to mind. Whether they’re spending time in the community, at school, or simply showing up consistently, they are building life-changing relationships grounded in trust, encouragement, and friendship. These connections help young people grow in confidence, navigate challenges, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Behind the scenes, our Board of Directors provides leadership, guidance, and vision, ensuring our organization continues to grow and serve our community effectively. Their dedication helps shape the future of our programs and strengthens the foundation of our mission.
We’re also grateful for the many volunteers who bring our events and fundraisers to life. From early mornings setting up to cheering on participants and helping everything run smoothly, their support is essential to the success of initiatives like Curl for Kids’ Sake and our community fundraising events. These moments not only raise critical funds but also build connections and awareness across our community.

Volunteerism at Big Brothers Big Sisters comes in many forms, but each role shares a common thread: a commitment to making a difference. Every hour given, every connection made, and every effort contributed helps create brighter futures for young people right here in our community.
This April, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating and thanking our volunteers. Their impact is immeasurable, and their kindness does not go unnoticed.
To all of our volunteers—thank you for showing up, for giving back, and for being the difference.
