Julie and Auska have been matched for 5 years! As they graduate from the program I can’t help but look back over the past five years and remember the day I introduced them. Auska’s family member said that, “Julie has definitely been a really positive force in Auska’s life, a great role model, and they have a strong bond.” The challenges that Auska has faced and over come has been incredible to witness – the constant in her life has been Julie. Julie not only spent time with her once a week but Julie met Auska where she was at and slowly but surely built a friendship that will now last a life time. Mentoring is not hard it’s just being there, showing up, and seeing the potential not the problems. Why not be a positive force in a young person’s life?
